| 2024/03/01 | The BESTEP (BEST Test of English Proficiency) will be held on April 27 (Sat) and May 18 (Sat) this year, and registration is now open. The test is free of charge and the application and examination are free of charge. “BESTEP" is an English proficiency test developed by the Ministry of Education's subsidized Language Training and Testing Center (LTTC). It is designed specifically for the needs of local university students in their pursuit of education or employment, and can help students understand their own English proficiency, and can be used as proof of English proficiency prior to further education, job search, or graduation. Students who achieve CEFR B1+ or above in listening, reading, speaking and writing in the Pearly English test are considered to have passed the English graduation threshold of our university (students still need to apply for certification at the All England Center). Please note that it may take about 8 weeks for the results to be announced after the exams. Students who have attained a B2+ in all four categories may apply to be exempted from taking English as a Foreign Language! Note: The type of English test accepted for “Exchange Student Application” is determined by the overseas schools accepting the application, and the Center would like to clarify this for all students. Features of the BESTEP Test 1. The first academic English-oriented proficiency test developed for Chinese university students. 2. 2. focuses on the assessment of English communication skills in general academic English and related learning contexts. 3. connects to the CEFR international language proficiency framework, with levels ranging from CEFR A to C and above, without the need to apply for graded tests. 4. It can be used as a pre-test practice for TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS and other international English tests.
